Every day was the same…

Groundhog day.

My son, Samuel, was 6 months old and I was barely getting to spend any time with him.

Ever since I was a teenager my dream was to marry young and have children early so I got to grow up with them.

Part of my dream had come true… I had a stunning wife and we had our first child at 25.

The only problem was that I was never getting to see him (let alone my wife to get the 2nd child 😉).

4:30am starts, 6:30pm finishes, quick shower when I got home and only 30 minutes with Sam on my chest before he was put to bed for the night.

30…minutes.

Every day, getting up at 4:30am, driving 1.5 hours (thankfully not through traffic, just to a worksite in the middle of nowhere) before even putting on my tool belt (I was a carpenter by trade).

All I could think about was how I could make money from home so I could spend more time with my son, be more present in his life, be happier and be the man I knew I should be.

I was so angry, frustrated and stressed out that I had followed a path that my dad wanted me to and not followed the one I had known (at 15 years old) was the way of the future. Ecommerce.

I remember that moment dad brought home our first computer in the mid 90’s and connected to the internet…

I said to my little brother “If we could make $1 off everyone on the internet, we’d be rich!”.

Every moment of my time onsite, every minute of the drive to and from work was consumed with how to just quit…quit with some level of confidence.

Well, I did quit. It was 2010…

The Global Financial Crisis had rolled round, obliterating the building industry and it forced my hand. It sent me back to work in an office (driving an hour in the other direction), only for me to end up on the tools 12 months later.

My cycle of misery had continued.

It took me another 18 months before I really did quit.

And this time I’d drawn that line in the sand for good. Hung up my tool belt and have never looked back.

The past 15+ years has not been without its struggle mind you.

Starting my own ecom store back in 2011 only for it to fail…

Venturing into social media management…only for it to fail,

Then into website design…only for it to make nowhere near enough money to survive…

Before I finally found Print-on-Demand in 2014 when everything turned around!

That is when my 2nd apprenticeship started (except this time it was in POD, doing something that I loved, from the place I always wanted to be working – home!)

Every time I asked for help from someone that was crushing it in POD, I managed to do the same. And alongside looking after my young son (and later my daughter) I started to piece together a strategy that led to $10million in sales.

It’s from my struggles and my successes that I have figured out what works – and I developed this into my signature PODhacks Method which is the cumulation of my experience in ecommerce and POD from the last 11 years of selling online.
